Contract for Beech House student accommodation secured by Unique

Unique have secured a contract for a large student accommodation development for university students in Headington, Oxford. Beech House is a U-shaped scheme which will provide 175 en-suite bedrooms, arranged as 3-11 bed-per-flat clustered around a shared kitchen area.

Unique will fabricate and install windows, doors and a curtain walling for the project. The commercial doors being installed will be from AluK, with their GT55 commercial aluminium door trusted to provide great security and performance, with thermal break profiles for heightened performance. These aluminium doors are ideal for a range of heavy duty commercial applications and, as such, were identified as the ideal product to use for Beech House.

The BSC94 inline sliding door system from AluK will also be fabricated and installed by Unique. Our aluminium curtain walls enable specifiers to create impressive facades that not only enhance the aesthetics of a building but also provide the functionality and performance required to meet and exceed current standards.

Unique have selected the Eurologik70 system from Eurocell for the PVCu windows set to be installed. The system excels in energy efficiency, with reduced carbon emissions and compliance with Code of Sustainable Homes and BREEAM standard. This is combined with slim sightlines to give a sleek, modern look to offer the best aesthetics for this student accommodation development.

Oxford is one of the world’s leading academic cities. The University of Oxford was ranked equal 1st in The Times 2015 university rankings and 3rd in The Times Higher Education 2014-15 world university rankings.

The scheme will be developed over lower ground and ground floor levels and four upper storeys. The development comprises mostly brick and glass elevations around a concrete frame. It will be built to a high specification and to sustainable standards.

The development will benefit from a customer drop-off area, retained mature Beech trees and landscaping. The scheme will also benefit from an internal central courtyard leading into the communal area, reception, warden’s office, study rooms and lifts. Also on site will be a communal laundry, bike store and bin stores. Internal specification includes ¾-sized beds, desk space and en-suite bathroom.
