Optimus Point huge success for Unique Window Systems
Unique have supplied windows, doors and curtain walling for Wilson Bowden Developments at the 65-acre Optimus Point site, near Glenfield in Leicester.
Optimus Point is a prime, commercial development site located at the strategic highway junction adjacent to Junction 21a of the M1, and A46 dual carriageway just to the north of Leicester.
Eventually the whole site could accommodate up to 2,000 new jobs, with the units, which cover 10,000 sq ft, having gone up in front of a 61,730 sq ft unit for Geary’s Bakeries. The self-contained units have mains services, a shared service yard, onsite parking, toilets and kitchenettes.
Unique fabricated and installed windows and curtain walling using the Technal system, with the SOLEAL window system and the MX curtain walling system specified from the Technal range.
The SOLEAL range offers excellent thermal, acoustic and weather performance and ensures the system will meet current and future regulatory demands.
The MX curtain walling from Technal, similar to its window system, offers enhanced thermal performance, allowing it to meet some of the strictest building regulations.
In addition to this, the MX system successfully balances the aesthetic requirements of architects with the functional needs of contractors, developers and occupiers – simplifying specification, fabrication and installation to ensure curtain walling of the highest quality.
The commercial doors being installed will be from AluK, with their GT55 aluminium door able to provide great security and performance, with thermal break profiles for heightened performance. These aluminium doors are ideal for a range of heavy duty commercial applications and, as such, were identified as the ideal product to use for Optimus Point.
Wilson Bowden surveyor, Sebastian Foster, said: “This scheme also supports Blaby District Council’s aims of providing suitable work-space for SMEs and start-up businesses. “Optimus Point has been very successful with occupiers such as Boden, Geary’s Bakeries and Everards taking units.”
