Unique support Careers Development Programme at local college
Mir Patel of Unique Window Systems has recently joined a panel of judges which saw students pitching their business ideas as part of Ratcliffe College’s Careers Development Programme.
The programme saw Year 12 students pitch their proposals in front of Mir Patel (Old Ratcliffian, Class of 14’), Kate Grace (Head of Careers) and Louise Liston (Foundation Manager) for their share of the fund donated by Unique Window Systems.
Year 12 students gained exposure by entering a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style competition for a share of the funds to enhance their career opportunities in the future, for example, a student last year was awarded a 50% contribution to support their attendance to a Young Doctor Summer Internship and another, awarded with payment to attend a FA Level 1 football coaching course.
Mir Patel commented: “I spent most of my childhood at Ratcliffe College, from the Nursery School all the way through to Sixth Form (Year 13) where I completed my A Levels and went on to University. Ratcliffe College gave me a fantastic platform to help me achieve my potential, both in my academic and professional career to date, so giving back to the school that gave me so much is an honour and the least I could do. It’s great to see so many ambitious, motivated students and the wide range of industries they aspire to have a career in.”
